After looking at blogs today I looked through the design section of Milk Magazine. My new favorite. I run into this image of a minimalist bedroom. I love this look and feel right now for a kids bedroom. Or did I get tired of the loads of visual information, colors and pretty things I just looked at. May be kids do too and they also need a quiet space to rest.
Colorful storage solution. I love the fabric boxes. May be bigger once will make for a more modern look but they are all great. I personally use the big Ikea bins for toys, and I love how useful they are. But I would love to have some fabric once as well because the choice of fabrics is so vast and it's a great way to bring color into the room. You can find similar once on Etsy. I've been recently running into light fixtures that are a DIY project. It should not be difficult to make a lamp and may be one of these days I'll try.
We often put art pieces at our kids rooms that can only go in kids rooms. Choosing art that is unexpected may turn the room into a very stylish space. Pick abstract paintings, photography, splashes of color or anything that does not scream "kids".

Great uncomplicated bedroom for boys. It's a room that stays consistent with the style in the house. Source: www.thehome.eu
I run into this lovely Supa Star restaurant on Facebook. The bright colors of the chairs and the simplicity of the space I think is very inspirational for a kids space. And how much do you like the lamps?!
